Caruso St John, Public House, Walsall

Caruso St John cited as collaborators on Wharf Bar, Walsall. See also impact of new gallery on urban context, http://www.carusostjohn.com/projects/new-art-gallery-walsall/.

Early ideas about city and site for the project could be supported by writings here, http://www.carusostjohn.com/downloads/, perhaps especially those written by Caruso St John, the emotional city etc...

Wharf Bar, Walsall, Sergison Bates

http://www.sergisonbates.co.uk/catalogue_2.htm

Initially a competition entry in 1996, using the "ASDA shed" as precedent. Sergison Bates subsequently explore what it is to make a public house. The project can also be viewed in light of its attempt to comment on the context of Walsall as described by Hugh Perman, "anywheresville, provincial chain-store land...."
